I think this hobby/passion/life calling is something that isn't for everyone.. I have done no research on this, but what if hearing was something like vision? We're each born with varying degrees of sensitivity in sight.. (people need glasses, contacts, etc.)   Is sound the same way? I mean...

I think there are two different ones.. one foam mod, and one tape mod. From what I've been hearing, it actually clears everything up.. Much punchier.

You can also search the forum for a HD558 mod to bring their sound similar to the slightly more expensive HD598. Many folks swear by that as well.

You could also consider the Audio Technica ATH-A700's or ATH-M50   Personally, I prefer the Sennheiser sound for gaming but everyone has their own preference.

Many people think the HD558 with a Zalman mic is quite good.. Myself personally, I prefer a closed headphone instead. I am spending my money on the PC350 as it has a built in mic. What kind of soundcard do you have?
