ATTENTION EVERYONE. I just recieved this email from David at Frogbeats. It looks like my suspicions regarding build quality were true... Hello Jake, My sincerest apologies for not getting back to you sooner on this. The main reason is that we've been trying to slowly close everything down with...- DutchDoctor

I like to look at Ultimate Ears in a positive light. Jerry Harvey started them off, then they refined their craft. Then Logitech stepped in and brought their streamlined marketing, quality control and international resources. Purin's thread on his factory tour was pretty neat. I like...- DutchDoctor

Quote: Yeah I worded that poorly, when I said there is "no standard" I was more talking about there being no agreed standard being used between manafacturers and many hobbyist reviewers. I'm certain there are quite a few different scientifically certified standards that can be used.- DutchDoctor

Does everyone use the same compensation? From what I've read there a various compensation curves. A literal machine measurement is what I want for the sake of comparison.- DutchDoctor

I just can't win with frequency charts. There's no standard of measurement, http://cdn.head-fi.org/b/bb/900x900px-LL-bb912947_b49f628d306d44c0f55ddc3275769a54.jpeg This apparently came with someone's Hidition NT-6s. Very similar response to most UERMs, maybe there's something to that...- DutchDoctor

Quote: Well consider me interested in your opinion. Do you come from a hobbyist or professional background? At least in your usage of IEMs. I'd really love some first hand accounts of successful mixing/mastering using IEMs. I know it should be possible. Yeah I've seen that UERM...- DutchDoctor

Quote: The only measured data I can scrounge from the net suggests a fairly flat response, with a slightly increased bass response - But with a massive bump at ~10khz. I'm sure that sounds nice, but it isn't flat. Just to clarify, when I say flat - I'm not talking about "sounds...- DutchDoctor

I never realised, but I live 10 minutes away from unique melody... I'm in Melbourne, Australia. Great now many more hours of research commences! Any engineers here using them?- DutchDoctor

The JH-13 is the first IEM I was set on, but without hearing it myself I scoured the internet for objective test results and frequency response curves with no luck. I was all but certain it would be a very pleasurable iem to listen to. I couldn't find enough evidence to suggest it would be...- DutchDoctor

Quote: I've actually been wondering whether maybe there has been a great deal of inconsistency in sound quality with the Frogbeats products (namely the C4). Some very respected reviewers (one is even a mastering engineer of many years) absolutely loved it, and thought of it as clean...- DutchDoctor

You forgot to burn them in, so I don't think this is a fair representation of the product's full potential. I researched for many months and then saved for 6 months before purchasing these, so they are obviously better than you are saying.- DutchDoctor

Quote: Thanks, I think I will get the UERM. I was all set to buy it right up until I read about this CR4. But I think it's too risky. Seeing as you've heard the UERM, what do you think of the bass extension? I'm not a bass head, but it would be nice if it stayed pretty consistent to...- DutchDoctor

Quote: Thank god I dug a little deeper into this thread. Like yourself, LFFs initial review (plus a few comments I was seeing) had me choosing the CR4 over the UERM. And I would was presently weighing up the risks of going with a startup company that has had less than ideal turn...- DutchDoctor

JH13 vs JH16: After at least a year, which is the better one?
As a fellow engineer and musician who thinks burn in and re-cabling is myth with a dash of placebo, THANKYOU. I'm a live and studio engineer, as well as a musician (keys and drums). I'm currently pulling my hair out choosing between these two. Would you say mixing on the 16s is troublesome due...- DutchDoctor
