Audeze Penrose X and Penrose
Hi, I am using Penrose X for over 2 years. I did not have any issues with them till recently. Few days ago my headset stopped connectint to USB dongle. I checked in different USB ports, on different PCs with different OSes (Linux, PC). I tried everything I could think of, including: force...- DuckSoup

[REVIEW] HifiMan RE400 ‘Waterline’ – The New Reference
I am considering buying RE-400. But before I pull the trigger on those I have one concern: How those deal with metal/rock music? Is there even any alternative for metal/rock under 100, which is avail in Europe? Thanks in advance.- DuckSoup

Your 5 newest CDs (or LPs)
Got few CDs yesterday myself, bit different genres than most albums in this topic :-) Carcass - Surgical Steel - awesome album, if you like this kind of music; Pearl Jam - Lightning Bolt - I don't really understand why it was on display in my local store, when according to wiki it is released... -
HFI-780 Earpad replacements
I remember reading here that some people reported sound signature change with DT250 pads. Just one extra option to consider - Ultrasone Edition 9 pads are said to fit HFI-780 and are still available at some Ultrasone distributors, altho are pretty expensive - IIRC around 120 EUR here in Europe.- DuckSoup

O2 AMP + ODAC
Thanks for the answer. I think I should remove batteries, as my amp is used mainly as desktop, so when I disasemble O2, I will take a look at the pot at the same time.- DuckSoup

O2 AMP + ODAC
Recently I found 1 small problem with my O2 (it is from Epiphany Acoustics). Sometimes when I turn the volume pot while something is playing I can hear some cracking in right channel, is not extremly loud, but easly audible. Strange thing for me is that it happens only sometimes. Anyone run into...- DuckSoup

Ultrasone HFI-780 vs. Beyerdynamic dt770 vs Shure srh840
Hi, I had similiar requirements when looking for headphones some time ago. I also like quite deep and punchy bass while listening to mainly fast metal (thrash, technical death). I picked HFI-780 and I am definietly NOT disappointed, so I think those will fit you nicely. One thing to remember is...- DuckSoup

Epiphany Acoustics join Head-Fi with the EHP-O2 portable headphone amp
My EHP-O2 + E-DAC combo arrived this weekend - I was amazed how well everything was packed, no way anything could happen to my precious gear. Sound wise I think I don't even have to add anything to previous posts. Thanks again Oliver!- DuckSoup

HRT Streamer II + Matrix M-Stage (how to set up?)
Yes that's a correct setup. You need to connect speakers to RCA pair labeled as output on the back of M-stage. Keep in mind that output of M-Stage is a variable output so you can control the volume of the speakers using volume pot on the Matrix.- DuckSoup

Need a straight forward recommendation.
I never had chance to listen to iPod with Wolfson, so I can't compare it, however one advantage of Sansa over iPods is that Sansa supports FLAC (vs Apple's ALAC) and has a simple drag and drop interface. Rockbox is a 3rd party firmware, as mentioned by RingingEars.- DuckSoup

Need a straight forward recommendation.
I am not sure what kind of headphones you will be using with this portable rig, but did you consider Sansa Clip+? It doesn't have any line out so connecting E7 is not possible, but if you want something super light and small I don't understand why would you want to carry E7 with you just to use...- DuckSoup

Audio-gd NFB-5, 9 switchable filters
M-Stage has a 5 ohm output impedance according to website, I doubt it would be a big problem especially as M-Stage is recommended even for Denons. Anyway instead of M-Stage or Audio-GD I went for O2 and ODAC, it's cheaper than any of previously mentioned units and I figured I can give it a shot...- DuckSoup
