Woo Audio WA6 + WA6SE: Tubes, Comments, Pictures, and Advice
Hi Group, I didn't know where to post this, so but the it is a comment on my Woo Audio 6SE It's pretty new, about 1.5 months old. I'm hearing static lately, it sounds like crumpling paper. I've looked online, I could only find this 'sound' to be linked with resistors going bad...- dreko

Yes I'm going to be there... at least I hope so! I'm not sure what to expect... should I wait to buy my DAC , get one at the meet?? Also, someone take a look at this Yamaha that I have, lots of specs on this page, it sounds good with my Grados SR80s... but is this any good for a headphone...- dreko

I think I'll look into this amp... Maybe the DIY isn't as hard as I think... I still have lots to learn about tubes, but I hear you on scarcity... thanks again for the info Andre- dreko

Good advice... well then, any thoughts on the inexpensive Millett 'starving student' amp? It's got tubes and is under a 100 dollars. Granted I'll have to do this myself... but will try... Also how about a Y1 DAC? I found this combo on the board, wondering if I should really think about...- dreko

Ok so let's see if got the advice right 1. Upgrade to higher end headphones (Grado 225s) 2. Look into a quality DAC for listening to my MP3s (Headrooms' Dac perhaps?) 3. Save up for a quality tube amp (Maybe Little Dots III or IV) 4. Good quality interconnects Does that sound about...- dreko

Well , let's say this entire project is 'good' quality for as little as possible I think the headphones are a good deal for under a hundred The Amp was under a hundred How about we find a tube preamp under a hundred? Possible? Can't be a DIY Kit, although I'd buy one assembled...- dreko
