Well, I have just ordered some Fostex T50RP headphones that I intend to modify. I think this incident has forced me to reassess how much I spend on my audio equipment. I need to be realistic and only buy equipment that I can afford to lose if the worst happens. So, although I have put the...- drawingbreath

I've emailed Mark Lawton. Sadly he has no spare drivers that suit the task. He suggested getting a pair of TH-600's and modding them instead. If only I hadn't had to shell out for a new boiler, car and my father's funeral the last two months. It's been quite the year already.- drawingbreath

Well, from what I can see after some Googling is there no readily available place to source drivers for the D7k or the TH900. Would the TH900 drivers just screw into my existing cups anyway or would it require further modding?- drawingbreath

Well I can now confirm that the right can is definitely dead. I just desoldered the working left side and attached the wires to the right can's terminals. Nothing. Absolutely dead. So it's not a wiring issue. The question that remains now is should I break these down and sell them for spares...- drawingbreath

When I get the chance I'm going to try a basic rewire with some old headphone cable I can rummage out of my junk box. Maybe it's to do with the jack end and not the can at all. Fingers crossed.- drawingbreath

Well, the reality is, it isn't a loose wire. I've just opened the can up and checked. There wasn't any sign of pulling or bad solder on the red or the black. I've checked the circuit from the wire terminal to the jack with a digital multimeter and the circuit completes. I guess you could say I'm...- drawingbreath

Cheers for the reply. I don't suppose you know what a blown driver typically sounds like do you? I would have expected distortion rather than not a crackle or whisper. Even pulling the headphone jack part of the way out so it goes mono in both cans doesn't seem to make it kick into action. My...- drawingbreath

Well, I have some sad news. My beloved AHD7000's look like they have a serious problem. I was using them plugged into my iMac listening to a video at work and they were fine. Then I unplugged them I stuck them into my Graham Slee Voyager portable amp and suddenly the right can wasn't working. I...- drawingbreath

IEM for replacing Denon AH-D7000
Wow. Are you saying that the Sony EX1000 are as good as a full-size £800 headphone? Now my interest is piqued. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2- drawingbreath

IEM for replacing Denon AH-D7000
Hi everyone Our office is about to move from separate rooms to an open plan environment; something no one is looking forward to. For the last year I have been using and appreciating my AHD7000's at work each day, but because sound isolation isn't the best I think now is the time to get some...- drawingbreath

Ipod Line out dock cable suggestion needed for iPod Classic to Graham Slee Voyager and Denon AH-D7000
Hi, I'm looking for suggestions for an iPod LOD to match up my iPod Classic to my Graham Slee Voyager portable amp that is easily available to the UK. I'm currently using a Fiio F7 adapter and I'm fairly certain I'm missing out. The darn thing fell apart and is currently being held together with...- drawingbreath

On the flip-side I feel like I own my headphones at bit more now. The hardest part of fixing the problem is getting the tools and threadlock for the job. I guarantee it's cheaper and less hassle to do it yourself too. :)- drawingbreath

Disassembling does require the top cap to be popped off (the one that looks more decorative on top of the gimbal). I'm not sure how you would get this off without damaging the finish. Because mine fell apart on its own I was able to poke mine off by approaching from its underside, through the...- drawingbreath
