I didn't like the dt770 because it felt like it was a little too muffled, in fairness could have been because i wasn't using an amp, and I also didn't think they were comfortable to me.  The velour actually made my head itch.  Anyway went with the SRH840s and couldn't be happier :)

From what I read they are very bass light and also have some quality issues. I went with the srh840s and felt they had the best of both worlds :)

just curious but have you listened to the SRH840s?  They are around the same price range and I feel has the perfect amount of bass.  Also the mids and vocals are top notch.  Anyway just a thought :)

As an update I have had time to compare the SRH840s with my old Bose Triports that i have had for like 10 years.  Wow.  The thing i noticed right away is how nasally the Bose sound in comparison.  I always enjoyed the Bose but now that I have the Shure's i don't think I'll be using them ever...
