Worth a try! Unfortunately, I paid using my Paypal Credit account so no purchase protection. I did buy an Allstate warranty but specifically states no accidental damage, spills etc. I'll start with Sony.

Well after getting the XM4 left side repaired by Allstate, the right side just crapped out too. They would have been better off just replacing both the first time around. I only realized this after killing my XM5s in the washing machine/dryer. Submitted a new claim to Allstate, we'll see what...

Just in case anyone was wondering, no the XM5s will not survive the washing machine and dryer. :cry:

I would either buy full retail or Certified Refurbished from a vendor like Secondipity or BuyDig on eBay with the two-year Allstate warranty. Given the XM4 battery fiasco, I would hedge my bets with a warranty (Which I did). They are $149.99-169.99 right now depending on color and Vendor.

Accidentally grabbed my XM4s today, which cemented me keeping my XM5s. There have been plenty of comparisons already but I must say they just sound so much narrower and smaller.

From what I can tell from the repair order, they just replaced the left side. I don't think they actually "repaired" them at all. I ended up keeping the XM5s, when I submitted a return, the vendor offered me a discount to keep them. I ended up only paying $159 for them. I couldn't pass that...

Spinfit Large CP360 have worked for me, stock foams are just a bit too small and the medium CP360 fit fine on my XM4, I had to size up to the large with the XM5.

Just got the shipping notice that Allstate repaired my XM4s and are shipping them back, I guess I jumped the gun buying XM5s. :confounded:

Starting to see reports on Reddit of battery issues on the XM5, can anyone confirm? My XM4s are at Allstate (Squaretrade) right now waiting on them to evaluate and I ordered a pair of XM5s that are being delivered today. I did add the 2 year warranty JIK but hoping it's not deja vu all over...
