woah! The best cMoy ever!
FWIW, I share your opinion - $70 makes a good downpayment on something with better sonics. However, these things (headphone amps) sell like hotcakes on eBay. Sometimes at outrageous prices. My point is that the asking price for this one seems reasonable when compared to the other offerings on...- digicom_t1

Buying HF-1s now... or later...
...I've owned Grado 325 and RS-1, My experience is that Grados sound better amp'd. Try your MS-1's without the amp and see for yourself. There are differences within the Grado family of phones, but there are as many or more similarities as well. I also have a SMM as well as the Pimeta and...- digicom_t1

EarMaxPro Tube issue
....The following tube types should work: 6DJ8/6922, ECC88, E88C, E188CC, CV2492, 7308, Cca, PCC88/7DJ8 and 5998. That should get you started! Of these, the 7308 and Cca seem to command high prices and are highly recomended. Too, some brands are prefered over others within the various tube...- digicom_t1

High-End Cable needed
Tell Drew what gear you are connecting, the type of sound you are looking to hear and I'm sure he'll make an appropriate recommendation. Very knowledgeable, accomodating and great person to deal with. --- Tom -
Problems with Grado 1/4 to 1/8 adapter...
....any adapter will have a tendency to short or open., Add to this the fact that some are 1/8" and others are 3.5 MM and these dimensions are not "exactly" the same. The Grado adapter will put extra stress on the jack in your PA2v2 maybe even causing stress cracks in the solder joints of the... -
SA5000 thin or detail-less without amp or w/ SR71?
Why don't you take the SA5Ks to one of the higher end audio stores and try them on a tube set up? It's been about 10 years, but I recall there were several in the Arlington, 7-Corners, and Tyson areas. Also, Sophia Electric is in your neighborhood. Thay make a Baby SET headphone...- digicom_t1

Have you considered a tube Pre/headphone amp? I'm using a WooAudio3 that I'm very happy with (see profile for complete set-up). It currently sells on e-bay and the Woo website for $470 and sounds fantastic. Beautiful and built like a tank. Truly a great value for what you get. It's bigger...- digicom_t1
