The New ATH-AD1000PRM: Some Impressions, Information, and Pictures

Thanks for the impression. You mentioned that unmodded 1000PRM driver metal cover touched the ears. I'm curious do unmodded W5000 touched your ears too ? I know from many people impressions they are more loose on the clamping, but I got a big head and large ears, the HD650 felt really cramp...

Lossy VS Lossless -- How does it effect PCs? (RAM, CPU, hard drive, etc.)

Lossless will take up more space at least twice over 320k MP3. As big as it is, your hdd wouldn't break a sweat handling it. If you put everything in a album into one single large file and load it up all into RAM, it will consume what ever the size of the file. Say if it is 400 MB it'll take up...

Does your HD 800 leave oil stains on paper?

Survey: How Many of You Really Eat Instant Noodle to Afford Gears?

Instant noodles are expensive, they are like a dollar or more each for something that taste bad. DIY noodle is the way to go.

    What PC should I get....

For audio only PC I suggest built a fanless PC with small SSD (32GB) and stream everything from your storage network, somewhere in another room. Your goal is something silent. Forget laptop they're not silent enough.

    USB DAC-Please Answer my Question

If you lowered the volume in foobar, it reduced your say 16 bit audio files, to what ever is required for the dB level you set it to, so you could be sending 12 bit via USB to your DAC if you don't set it to full. It's no biggie really, you'll just reduced the SNR after DAC. It's most likely...

    20kHz+ Hypersonic Effect in IEMs?

We could feel sound below 20 Hz, is there any reason why we can't have some perception of 20+ kHz signal if it is loud enough even if we couldn't hear it ?

To what degree is jitter audible?

In loudspeaker system moving your head will change the sound more than jitter of digital system. Or in headphones, moving the headphones around ever so slightly.

Poll: Audible Difference between FLAC and 320kbps MP3?

For me it's between I can't tell the difference and FLAC sounded superior. It's all down to the encoder and the type of music IMO. There is type of music that the encoder just suck at even at 320kbps, eg the classical genre. If the enconder did it's job properly I can't tell the difference, if...

    HOW LOUD IS TOO LOUD

Your friend ear drums will get damage first before your headphones ever feel a twinge. I used headphones as mini speakers and turn volume to max from time to time. As long as the amp is not supplying more power than your headphone could handle it should be fine.

    Sub $15 Earbuds

I got TDK EB-400 for $5 on sale at my local electronic shop. It's not a bud, but IEM with several pair of different size sleeves. Suprisingly it's not bad once I find the right sleeve. I wear the biggest sleeves with it. Sound isolation is pretty good, I could barely here anything with music...

Scientific Way To Find out amplification requirements

You need to find the max voltage the amp put out and the impedance and the sensitivity of your headphones and the max power it can take.. It's similar to how you calculate for amp requirement for loudspeaker but you don't need to add an extra 3 dB because headphone are sealed to each ear...

Went through a plane ride with a cold... Now I can't enjoy headphones

The stuff that are blocking your ear are your body defense mechanism. So go to see a doctor and asked what's triggering them. It will go away, don't worry too much.
