Comparisons: 36 of the Top Closed/Portable Headphones Around

When you refer to the 7520 as the "best closed back headphone", does this mean you would without a doubt recommend them for portable use? I am highly interested in the 7520, but I must admit it is a bit hard to find.

Beyerdynamic DT770 Premium 250 Ohm Stereo Channel Imbalance?

An update on the situation, apparently, the fit could have greatly emphasized my perception of the stereo channel imbalance.   When I went back to the store with the model, they let me try it driven out of this huge, expensive-looking HiFiMan amplifier, and the imbalance was even less...

Reply to review by 'd3athangel' on item 'Sony MDR-1R'

Great review. I find isolation not bad, I use them while on-the-go. I would like to say however that the mids are not that "crisp". To me, they seem a bit forward and have a boosted presence but are not very detailed. Otherwise, your review was very concise and I agree with most of it.

I envy you so much ._. I am currently using my Fiio E7 with my MDR-1R for travelling. The latter does its job well, but lacks so much in various departments. For $180, I'm happy though.   Are you using the stock coiled cable with your 7520? Is the connector on the earcup 3.5mm?

Damn, the 7520 is like the ultimate portable headphones for me. Just by reading impressions like yours makes me crave for them. I really want to gradually step my way up though towards the 7520, and spend time appreciating inferior models. Could you please tell me though how much the 7520's...

    Monster Turbine Appreciation Thread

Reading some of these latest posts makes me miss my Turbine's so much    I am studying abroad and I left them in my home country. Moreover, the 3.5mm connector is now faulty after 2 years of intensive use. I might get them repaired or even re-cabled (if that's possible) once I return.   They...

[GUIDE] Sonic Differences Between DT770-DT990 Models & More

After watching all your videos, I finally got the DT770 Premium 250 Ohm. Its funny, because after listening to the MDR-1R's for 2 months now, I was getting annoyed by the fact that there was barely any upper mids. Maybe there was, but the quality was poor. Plus, the treble lacked so much detail...

Beyerdynamic DT770 Premium 250 Ohm Stereo Channel Imbalance?

Okay so this is my story. I recently bought a pair of DT770 Premium 250 Ohm's in Hong Kong, at a small discount, I chose these after deciding to not spend so much on the T70 which apparently has a different sound signature. Out of the box, I immediately noticed a small imbalance to the right.  ...

Damn, I was always interested in the MDR-7520, but at the time I was researching on it, there were very little reviews. I currently am using the MDR-1R as my go-to headphones for portability, but I find it to be lacking in many areas. The treble isn't as detailed as I want it to be, the mids...

    Momentum VS MDR-1R?

I would like to add an account of my own first-hand experience with the Sony MDR-1R. These headphones are definitely bass heavy, especially in the mid-bass region. The mid-bass is tight and controlled nevertheless. The overall sound signature is very warm, making them very non-fatiguing; I could...

    Sony XBA-3 Review (with pictures)

I am sorry to hear that the sibilance frustrates you. I must concur that an amp will really help the sound signature. I never use my XBA-3 straight out of my iPod. The sibilance can be very annoying especially when travelling. In my honest opinion, I never believed in burn-in in IEMs.

    Sony XBA-3 Review (with pictures)

Its been more than a year that I have these earphones in my possession. Due to my being busy with high school exams, I never got round to posting this review. Nevertheless, I am uploading this for anyone interested. Note: The music used to review these earphones are mainly metal music, from...

    Sony has new headphones, MDR-1R

Quote: OMG THANK YOU. How could I not think about that? I tried reversing the earcups (L on my right ear, R on my left ear), and the panning is still slightly to the right. I'm most certain now its my ears and the positioning of the earcups. Thank you so much, you just made me stop worrying...

    Sony has new headphones, MDR-1R

Hmm, but this is my second pair :S And the imbalance is very small, its a small panning to the right, when I made the guy at the store listen to it, he couldn't find any problem with it. I think I will make a friend listen to them and see what they think, probably make them A-B them with another...
