How did the 43 ohm impedance specification came about? Has Sennheiser published this data or it is forum lore?

The level of the analog output is not dependent of the volume setting of the front panel.

IHMO the Asgard pairs perfect with the HD-650s. Very pleased with the amp. Below is my set-up. I am using the HRT music streamer attached with couplers.    

Best bang for the buck. Schiit Asgrad, HRT Music Streamer II, HD-650 (on occasion they go on sale for less then $400). RCA couplers can be used to connect the DAC to the amp.

I ordered from Amazon the HD650, HD600 and Denon D2000. Kept the HD650. You can order the HD700 and HD800, test them for 30 days and return them both or keep one. Another recommendation for the HRT Music Streamer II. You will not need RCA cables with the HRT Music Streamer II. With two male-to-male RCA couplers you can plug it directly to the Asgard.

My Schiit Asgard consumes 23-24 watts. Electric charges in San Diego, CA are .1433 $/kwh. If I leave it on all year the cost is $28.80 dollars or $2.36/month. Quite high for a single device. My total monthly bill is $36 - $38. I turn the Asgard off when not in use.
