LH Labs Verb IEM Impressions Thread
Another Verb purchaser here; didn't get mine till a bit later since I'm in Canada. Backed the Pulse and Wave, so figured I'd grab this. Will give it a bit more listen - build quality seems good for the price range. But the sound, not looking that good. I honestly thought it would be...- brn80

Google Nexus 5 + FiiO E18 or FiiO E12?
I have an N5 too. The sound quality on it is terrible. Even the US variant S3 that my gf has is way better. I recently picked up a hifimediy miniUSB DAC to use with the N5. It's pretty cheap ($29) and uses the Sabre ES9023 DAC chip, but because of the size uses a different receiver and is...- brn80

If you're thinking about getting the HD558s, DO! (Review)
Quote: From what I've read, you don't want to bother with the 518 (equivalent to the 515). If budget is getting stretched, get the HD555 for like $85 or so from amazon.- brn80

Non-Audiophile looking for some help in Headphones: Sennheiser HD 598 Vs. Sennheiser HD 600
I've been researching this as well--the new line-up--as reviews and impressions are sparse. Some euro sites have a lot more short impressions, Amazon.uk included. From what I gather the 598 is basically an updated 595. For your usage (no amping out of portable/computer) and the genres you...- brn80

ATH-M50 99$ only shipped! Fake or Real? Link included.
Ebay is always a mixed bag especially with headphones that tend to be popular. I'd say AT falls into that category. However, I've noticed that the copies tend to be the consumer 'flashy' ones, the in-ear varieties and the portables such as the ES7 etc. The M50 are more studio monitor use, so...- brn80

Best headphone for gaming with Poll! ~Vote!
Been a while since I've owned some of the cans mentioned above. I owned a K701 twice as well as a K601. Like tdock, I preferred the K601 for long gaming sessions over the K701. The K701 were great, especially after proper amping but the K601 saw the most head time. It could very well be the lack...- brn80

Tutorial : WASAPI support for KMPlayer, having a top-notch video/audio player
Thanks for the great write-up. Going to try this to see how it is. I've tried a lot of different players for music, but I keep coming back to Foobar because of speed+simplicity+some modifications. J river media center came close to replacing it, but it had some bugs of it's own. I wish foobar...- brn80

Sennheiser HD 25-1 II $100 @ Newegg
Thought this was a pretty good deal, thought I'd pass it along. This is the regular HD 25-1 II not the cheaper SP version from what I can tell. For the lazy folk Newegg.com - SENNHEISER HD 25-1 II 3.5mm/ 6.3mm Connector Supra-aural Professional Monitoring Headphone Promo code: EMCLWNS55- brn80

Sony MDR-XD200 Headphones
I owned the XD400 for a while, good entry point headphones. Not worth more than the $40 or so I paid though. I've read the lower lines are pretty crappy. I vastly would recommend the Koss KSC75 over even the XD400, and possibly the porta pro for those seeking bass. And shame on me for bumping...- brn80

Is there life after ATH-AD700's?
Agree with the above poster, something from the Beyer camp would probably offer what you're looking for--probably the DT990/250 or 600ohm--but as people mentioned, an amp will be required. I would not bother with the AD900 if you're looking for more punch. A Denon D2K/D5K might be worth a look...- brn80

Amazon AKG 10% off *expires 7/26/09*
It's a little like the Dell deals, where they let you have a discount (15%,20%,30%), but only let you choose from a limited section that are already marked up; but then again not sure how the AKG prices were on Amazon prior to this. I did find something that I would actually buy from Amazon...- brn80
