fiio x5 e12 combo
you are saying the e12 is not necessary with x5, and also that you should use an e12 (rather than e17). So should I bother using the e12 with my x5 or not? Under what conditions? I have noble c4, th900,(both low ohm) and dt770-250s. They all sound fine without e12. Give me a song for example...- bombjoke

FiiO Mont Blanc/E12 portable headphone amp, 880mW, slim design, full metal case. Bass boost and Cross feed!
Do any of you use the e12 with the fiio x5 dap? I have both. I don't notice a need with th900-30ohm or even dt770-250s. I thought the point of the x5 is that it has an amp already like a e12 more or less built in. (Unlike common players like clipzip.) Why then, does fiio have a "kit" product...- bombjoke

FiiO Mont Blanc/E12 portable headphone amp, 880mW, slim design, full metal case. Bass boost and Cross feed!
I've been using it for over 6mon w/ my BD 770's 250Ω. all kinds of music. never had clipping or any complaint. the worth thing about the e12 is no auto-shut-off. its so quiet i often leave it on. it cannot boost the volume to an uncomfortable level. i've often had it turned all the way up...- bombjoke

FiiO Mont Blanc/E12 portable headphone amp, 880mW, slim design, full metal case. Bass boost and Cross feed!
Another power question- does it use less power if the input is silent? That is, if I pause my clipzip, it has auto off but e12 doesn't. Will it drop to consume only minimally, or pretty much give regular life (12hrs? ) even if it's amplifying silence? Also, if I recharge after only 50%...- bombjoke

New Onkyo ES-FC300 / HF300?
i loved the sound in the store. but after one session in a cafe the discomfort was not something i could put up with. i replaced them with m50s which are fine for all-day. however, there is a slight irritation on the top of my ears, and the pads can get slimy in warm places. so though i...- bombjoke

New Onkyo ES-FC300 / HF300?
i traded in my es-fc300 for m50s. although i liked the sound and style, the first day i wore them for over 4 hours they hurt my ears. the ath-m50s dont. the pads seem comfy enough, but the onkyo cup was too shallow for me. the m50 cup is deeper and my ears dont "touch bottom".- bombjoke

Audio Technica ATH-AD900x Impressions Thread
the only drawback for me is the lack of insulation. it works wonders for the sound, but not appropriate at above minimal volume at a cafe. ive spent some time looking for a closed on or over-ear that has a sound that a ad900x lover would like. can you recommend any? this week im in the...- bombjoke

New Onkyo ES-FC300 / HF300?
i also compared it to beyer dynamic on-ears. not sure it they were tp51 but same design with the contoured horizontal pivot aluminum cup holders. i didnt see the (used) price but i preferred the livelier onkyo sound for sure. this may not mean much to you though because i think i might be...- bombjoke

New Onkyo ES-FC300 / HF300?
i just picked up the blue model (cheaper cables) at e-earphone.jp in oksaka. i got it "upstairs." (they have over 100 used cans upstairs and you can try them all.) the better cabled version was also available for the same price (had a "scar" (scratch)). but i preferred blue, i prefer the...- bombjoke

Mac OS X Music Players - alternatives to iTunes
its my favorite as well. also good for organizing, with batch tag editing and automatic tagging by looking up the sound signature in a db somewhere. impressive. it can get stuttery so you might need to increase the buffer in the settings. the only drawback is that you pay for all this...- bombjoke
