Windows vs Mac
I'm in a similar boat. I posted a year ago in this thread about how I had been a long-time Mac user who defected to Windows, but with the arrival of the M2 Mac mini, I defected (refected?) back. I said in that prior post that if anything sent me back, it would probably be photo management, and...- blaked

My six-year-old daughter flawlessly passed a blind test between a silver-plated wire and a copper one
For whatever it's worth, Dragonmilenario, I never got the impression you were posting in bad faith. I wouldn't have bothered posting anything myself in this thread if I had because I just don't have the patience. I tend to lurk in Sound Science and not much anywhere else on Head-Fi, but I don't...- blaked

My six-year-old daughter flawlessly passed a blind test between a silver-plated wire and a copper one
As others have alluded to, inadvertent cueing is a possible/likely cause here. In experimental psych it's sometimes referred to as the Clever Hans effect (see the link for background). No matter how hard you try to control it, no matter how much you may think you're being "honest" and not...- blaked

Audeze's 2023 Black Friday B-Stock Sale!
And just like that, the LCD-XC is sold out. At least I know one of them is mine this time! I actually live like 20 minutes from Audeze. I don’t suppose they let you just come pick them up when they’re ready? 😆😆- blaked

Audeze's 2023 Black Friday B-Stock Sale!
Oh, man. I might be in so much trouble now. The LCD-XC popped up on the Black Friday page today and I couldn't resist. I told myself I wouldn't get anything higher than the LCD-2 Closed, but those sold out in under three minutes on the first day, and there were no LCD-XC models before today. But...- blaked

Audeze MM-100
Is this posted somewhere publicly yet? I don't see it in the database, and I'd like to see the EQ settings.- blaked

What is your reference recording?
Here are some of my go-to demo tracks. Steven Wilson, "King Ghost" Led Zeppelin, "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" - A surprisingly intimate recording, you can actually hear Robert Plant's lips parting and his tongue coming away from the roof of his mouth in spots. Genesis, "Squonk" Jerry...- blaked

Is the Aeon #padgate finally coming to an end?
I use my Aeon RT Closed (almost the same model) with a Schiit Magni Heretic. Works great. I use medium gain most of the time, and if I go much past noon or 1 o'clock on the dial without EQ -- or 2 o'clock with EQ -- it'll get too loud for me. I wouldn't think most people would need high gain on...- blaked

Just dont understand. How can they believe an Ethernet cable can improve sound?
I usually lurk here, and I debated saying anything in this thread because, frankly, I don't want to have a discussion with people who question the basics of 802.3 specifications and implementation any more than I want to have a discussion with a flat earther. That said... I will post this...- blaked

Sound Conduction Through Bone Headphones, Earbuds, Hearing Loss and Tinnitus
I don't think so, either. That's what I was getting at in my first post above (second paragraph). I don't see how a sound has a "phase" if it's a neurological symptom rather than an otological one, so I don't see why the articles even bring up active noise cancelation.- blaked

Sound Conduction Through Bone Headphones, Earbuds, Hearing Loss and Tinnitus
Well, there is no cancelation sound without something to cancel. Then it would just be a tone, and the phase would be irrelevant. As for determining the tinnitus frequency, you can do that with a reasonable degree of precision with a tone generator and simple matching. Mine hovers around 3800...- blaked
