Do you have a volt meter or a function generator or a oscilloscope? Any of these will help you fault find.

I guess it depends what your ears are like. Any way it is just a bonus if I can run with them. Come to think of it I don't think I should be running with £100 earphones, as I do want them to last a while.

Well I think I will buy them and see for myself what they are to run with. If I don't like them when I am running I will just buy some cheap IEM's which are suited for running. Thanks for all the help guys. I would give +REP, but this forum doesn't seem to have a rep system.
