    Traveling with open-back headphones

Hello,   I own a pair of Sennheiser HD598s and Audio-Technica ATH-M50s. I love 'em both to death but I tend to stick with the ATs for mixing and recording, while the Sennheiser's are almost always for listening pleasure and enjoyment (their sound signature fascinates me). I wanted to get a...

    Sennheiser HD598 driver question

The funny thing is I sent my Audio-Technica M-50s in a month after for the same issue. Got them today (only one week after getting the Sennheisers back) and they even upgraded my cans with reinforced padded earcups and fixed the silly little spring problem (and of course the fixed the driver...

    Sennheiser HD598 driver question

Thank you both for the suggestions. Mad Max, I'm on the fence about saying it's my ears. This problem has been slowly occurring with both my headphones. At first I thought it was my ears for sure, but I only found out recently my darned computer speaker system played a part in this mess. Every...

    Sennheiser HD598 driver question

Hi, I recently sent my Sennheiser HD598s back to the company (early January) because of some deficiency where the 'weight' of the music was in the left driver. The bass and vocals were way more prominent in the left driver, leaving the right driver sounding horribly empty and an overall...

    Sennheiser HD598 (Soundstage Question)

Quote:   Yea it was an authorized Sennheiser kiosk. I emailed while still a bit flustered by the whole scenario, and they replied pretty quickly and helped me out through the situation. The HD598s sound so great, and their reputation so immense, that flat-out returning them doesn't sound...

    Sennheiser HD598 (Soundstage Question)

Quote:   It's just....why? This has just left such a sour taste in my mouth with Sennheiser. As I said before, my only 'high-end' headphones before these were Audio-Technica M50s. To have paid $250(!!!) for a set of heapdhones that looks cheap as ****, but also comes with a driver defect...

    Sennheiser HD598 (Soundstage Question)

Thanks for all the responses/suggestions, guys. It's much appreciated. I wouldn't say it's driver impedance, because the right driver isn't actually quieter than the left. It's just that the bass and main vocal line are more prominent in the left. Everything that comes out of the right driver...

    Sennheiser HD598 (Soundstage Question)

Come on guys, throw me a bone here. I really want to figure this out. If you own/owned the HD598, did you ever experience the problem I stated above? A simple yes or no will suffice

    Sennheiser HD598 (Soundstage Question)

Oh man, then maybe this really is a faulty pair    It actually sounds like the right driver lacks the bass impact of the left driver. My 598s are within warranty, so I really hope this counts as a valid reason for replacement.    Anybody else wanna contribute some helpful information?

    Sennheiser HD598 (Soundstage Question)

Quote:   You're saying 'that hasn't been my experience' meaning you own/owned the HD598s (Just clarifying)? It is a little odd, to be honest. But I don't know if it's worth the hassle of notifying Sennheiser, sending it into them, and waiting for them to send it back and blah blah blah...

    Sennheiser HD598 (Soundstage Question)

Quote:   Well, I don't know about the left/right ear hearing difference. On my other phones, the Audio Technica M50s, you don't really get that (Yes, closed-back, I know...but still) The FiiO E07k comes with that feature of balancing the channels, if I remember correctly. Argh, why can't...

    Sennheiser HD598 (Soundstage Question)

Quote:   Thanks for the input, man. So maybe this is a Sennheiser thing? I'm curious to hear from an HD800 user to see if they experience something similar (though highly unlikely). I'll go try the 598s out with some video games/movies and see how it does in that area.

    Sennheiser HD598 (Soundstage Question)

I got a pair of HD598s about 3 weeks ago and it's been pretty good. I have one small concern, though. It might be a bit tough to explain, but...   When I listen to the cans, it feels like more of the music is happening in the left ear cup. The bass and lead vocals sound panned to the left a...

Sennheiser HD598: Vinyl vs. Digital (Bass)

They're both different monsters. I really love the warm sound that vinyl gives. When I spend some time listening to vinyl, and then return to digital, it sounds cold and distant. I'd honestly prefer it over digital if it weren't for one thing: cracks and pops from natural usage. Unless you take...

Sennheiser HD598: Vinyl vs. Digital (Bass)

Hey all,   I noticed something rather curious today. As many have come to know, the Sennheiser HD598s aren't exactly the greatest headphones for bass. They're pretty much bass-neutral (which I'm cool with), though some find them bass-light. I bought them about 4 days ago and have been...
