    Recommendation at $250 level - Beyer/Senn?

The DT880/990 and HD580/600 are all great cans, but I don't know if any of them is quite what you're looking for if you listen mainly to rock/metal and electronica; that sounds more like Grado or Audio Technica territory. But all of them are awesome classical cans. Just my take on it.

    Cheapest place to buy DT880?

Well, if you don't mind buying used, wait for one to show up in the For Sale/Trade Forum (or post a WTB if you're impatient). If you have a little more to spend, or would just prefer to buy new, B&H is selling them for US $225.95 (plus ~$10 shipping). Link

What headphone would you be owning right now w/o Head-Fi?

I'd be rockin' out to a pair of Sony Streetstyles Or maybe some Koss UR-15s. I'd also be about $500 richer

    Breakout Box Business

So, seeing as the internal amp (assuming there is one) on breakout boxes/live drives don't seem to be recommended, what are some external amps that would be appropriate for cans such as the HD600? I like to go mobile, so mobility is an issue.

    Breakout Box Business

The Audigy 2 Platinum has its breakout box image featured on the front of its box. And if you can't find the box, just go to Google.com and search for Creative Labs Audigy 2 Platinum . There you'll see pictures of the breakout box.

    Breakout Box Business

Some soundcards ship with breakout boxes (Creative Audigy Platinum, Game Theatre XP, etc.) Do these breakout boxes serve as amplifiers when you run your headphones off them? If so, can they drive some of the larger, harder to drive headphones, like the Sennheiser HD600 (which is what I'll be...

    Sennheiser Dilemma

I have about $300 - $350 to spend, but with Christmas coming, I don't need to purchase all of these components myself. Although I'll be using the headphones with everything that has audio and can hook up to a pair of headphones, the majority of what I'll be using is likely to be mobile. In...

    Sennheiser Dilemma

Let's put the headphone decision on hold for a second, and move to means and cost of amplification. Because depending on the price and quality of an amp worthy/capable of driving the HD580/HD600, I may or may not have enough budget left to make the jump to HD600, and assuming the amp permits it...

    Sennheiser Dilemma

As to what audio devices I'll be using them with, if it has a headphone jack, and I use it, you can bet that the new headphones will be be used whenever I use whatever object is in question. As to the HD650's, on eBay they're about GBP 200, or about 350 U.S. dollars (I don't know how accurate...

    Sennheiser Dilemma

My sources? Mostly eBay and Amazon, although I'm leaning towards eBay for its lower prices. There's even a used pair of HD580's for under 50 U.S. dollars, although I'm thinking they must have seen some pretty heavy use to be sold off at that price... I'm looking more towards the HD600 now that...

    Sennheiser Dilemma

But don't you need high quality amps to bring out the potential of the HD580's and HD600's enough to hear a significant difference? And also, do both have about the same level of comfort, or is one superior to the point that it may influence my decision? Again, any thoughts are appreciated, and...

    Sennheiser Dilemma

This is my first post, so sorry if this seems like a waste of time... so I'll get to the point. I'm purchasing my first pair of serious headphones, and I've come across a few good deals. I've narrowed my selection down to the upper class of Sennheisers, but I'm uncertain of which model to...
