The Deals DISCUSSION Thread (READ THE FIRST POST!!!)
Wait, I see 20 cents advertised as the sale price. When you said 10 centsI assumed that was the Aussie price since AFAIK it's the only one of the eligible countries listed that uses "cents". Is this a regional pricing thing or did they just double the price since you posted?- Amleth

= HE-560 Enhancement Mod (v1.5) =
Hrm. Those are just slightly thicker pads, but with no tilt. Here's the Focuspads from the same seller, but only barely cheaper than from HFM direct, and with no branding marked it's hard to tell if they're real or not. Also, no Focuspad-A on offer, which is what I wanted to try. There's a...- Amleth

Thanks. I did try eBay as well but didn't find anything searching "Focuspad". I was hoping it was like most things, where direct from the manufacturer tends to be the most expensive way to buy something, since they have to sell at full RRP or nobody else would want to retail it. But I guess...- Amleth

Japan is the headphone paradise, and here's the proof
Okay, I'll try to check it out. (Edit: Oh, you mean the Bic Camera at Tenjin? I was wondering why I couldn't find a "Yodobashi Tenjin".)- Amleth

Thanks. Why do you prefer the Tenjin Yodobashi, though? Bigger? Better range? Was just a more convenient location for you?- Amleth

Is the only place to buy Focuspads directly from the Hifiman site? US$39 seems a bit steep, especially when they sell the standard pads for $10.- Amleth

Sennheiser HD800S Unveiled!
Assuming the same cable inside, I don't see why they didn't simply offer the balanced cable alone, plus a nice solid 4-pin to 6.5mm stereo adapter, which would also address both setups just as well without so much hardware duplication. Well, other than increasing perceived value and making it...- Amleth

The Stax Thread III
Another one for the DIY-savvy: http://page9.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/k198919751?wr=1&iref=wlr_6 What the hell is that thing? It seems to have a Stax plug on it and what look like decent parts and point to point wiring inside? Did I just miss a bargain seeing as it sold for about...- Amleth

The Stax Thread III
Thanks. Actually, it might have been a Yodobashi in Akiba now I think of it. I looked online for a Yodobashi in Fukuoka a while back but for some reason came the conclusion there wasn't one. Guess I need to check again. Best Denki and Artcrew are new to me too. I'll have to check them all...- Amleth

The Stax Thread III
Anyone know where I might be able to audition Stax gear in Fukuoka? I've found a couple Hi-Fi shops (Max Hi-Fi and Hif-Fi Do), but neither carry much in the way of headphones. I need more leads. Does anyone know if the Bic Camera in Fukuoka city carries Stax? I remember the one in Akihabara...- Amleth

The Stax Thread III
Spotted this searching "SRM-T2" on Yahoo Auctions Japan: http://page10.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/m95216502 To the DIY cognoscenti, does this looks like an actual T2 clone? Just in one box? Or is the seller just using the name in his auction title to lure searchers to his different...- Amleth

The Stax Thread III
Thanks. So I wouldn't need to buy any components? Only needs two short lengths of solid wire and solder to perform? I'm living in Japan for a bit and the prices here v.s. back home have me thinking of jumping into high-end Stax. From what I can gather, buying a used 727 on Yahoo Auctions...- Amleth
