Looking for free career advice. (particularly from lawyers, vets and teachers)

    Sennheiser HD800 Appreciation Thread

The written reviews in Stereophile need to be carefully parsed, but I really like the measurements and the associated discussion. JA isn't usually afraid to mention when a product measures poorly. There have been plenty of expensive products, often sold by advertisers, that have been thrashed in...

Looking for free career advice. (particularly from lawyers, vets and teachers)

If you value free time, a career in law is not for you. (Also, you will be deeply disillusioned if you think law is anything like what it appears to be on TV.) Given your interests, it might make sense to go to graduate school if you can find an area that you're passionate about.

Does the type of wood used in exotic headphones affect sound?

    Something very strange about Grados.

Like I mentioned in the other recent thread you posted, there isn't as much difference moving up the Grado line as is sometimes said. Too often this observation is posted by people who are essentially trolling, but it is true for the most part. The old RS-1s (the only ones I've heard) were a...

What are high end Grados good at and what are they not good at?

If you weren't at least vaguely entranced by the SR-60, you probably won't fall in love with higher-end Grados. They share a family sound (though in recent years the different models have been diverging more, not positively IMHO) and although it's trolling to say there is no difference as you go...

    The HD800 Pricing: Some thoughts

I think it's a well-chosen price. Obviously it's pushing the limits of headphone pricing, but the market for $1500+ amps is very firmly established. (Heck, the market for $4000+ amps is pretty firmly established.) Why not price a headphone to match the level of amp it will be paired with...

    Absolutely fed up with BOA

I've paid much more than this in overdraft charges. Once in my life (years ago) I let an overdraft persist for a couple of weeks and they keep on adding fee after fee. Pretty soon you owe the bank $700. It's not really the bank's problem though. They're entitled to charge these fees. Your...
