Up for sale is my Weiss DAC501 streamer/DAC/digital sound processor/headphone amp. This is the smaller brother of the DAC502, with the same internal electronics (excluding a 4-pin XLR headphone jack) in a half-size form factor. These Swiss-made DACs have seen an enormous amount of praise, including a class A+ rating from Stereophile. I purchased this as an open-box item from an authorized dealer (The Music Room) in July 2022 and have been using it in my office audio setup since then. This is the 2-channel (Mk I) model, not the 4-channel (Mk II) version.
The DAC501 provides exquisite detail, clarity, and resolution to any music you throw at it. It can handle hi-resolution audio up to 352.8/384 kHz, including DSD64 and DSD128 through the USB and Ethernet inputs. Moreover, while the DAC sounds fantastic on its own, the 501 offers far more versatility than almost any other DAC on the market. It can act as a Roon Ready endpoint for streaming with Roon (which is generally how I used it) or other UPnP streaming devices. It has AES/EBU, Toslink, USB, coax, and Ethernet inputs along with both balanced/XLR and single-ended/RCA outputs. There is also a 1/4" headphone jack in the front for your cans. The DAC501 has a whole suite of sound processing options onboard, including digital volume control, equalizer, room correction, de-essing filter, vinyl emulator, and headphone EQ for specific Audeze models. All of the 501's functionality can be controlled from the front touchscreen interface, by the included remote control, or by connecting to it using any computer on your network. All of these settings let you dial in the sound that you want, or you could bypass them all and just enjoy some of the cleanest sound you've heard from a DAC.
The DAC501 can also be upgraded to a 4-channel version that improves both the digital and analog sections, allowing you to keep up with Weiss's latest innovations. I personally value that there are future-proofing options like this available for the device.

This unit is in excellent condition, with no visible marks or nicks that I can see. It comes with the original box, velvet cover, remote control, power cable, user manual, and quick start guide.
Why am I selling it? Frankly, I have more DACs than I have systems to use them in, so I need to pare them down. However, I like the Weiss sound so much that I ended up going up the chain. Otherwise, I would have been content to keep this unit.
My asking price includes Paypal fees and shipping within the United States. I am willing to ship outside the US as well, but shipping would be additional. Please let me know what questions you have. Thank you.
