Hi all, continuing to cull my collection, up for sale is a pair of Stax SR-Omega. Released in 1993, it was Stax's answer to the cost no object offerings of the time such as from Sennheiser and Sony, and ushered in a new generation of large round driver electrostatic headphones that is their current mainstay.

This set is in used but fairly good condition and comes with its original wooden storage box. In particular, as is unfortunately all too common with vintage Stax, the original headband is broken near one of its knees. In its place is a third-party unit (slight colour mismatch, matte black vs coffee) that is much sturdier and wonderful for usability, the original will be included should one wish to attempt a repair. All else is stock, including the all-important drivers. The earpads and headpad exhibit wear, and there is a small gap in the ribbing of the headpad, but both are reasonably nice for their age. On the bottom left corner of the lid of the wooden box is a surface stain, the aging interior foam is newly replaced for better protection.

In terms of performance, they function perfectly in my system. The sound is remarkably open and spacious owing to the large mesh driver construction, and complements well Stax's idiosyncratic emphasis on detail and transparency present here as well. The bass, while not up to the quantity of the SR-007 say, is exceptional in extension, linearity, and impact. I expect the prevailing opinion that the SR-Omega is Stax's finest headphone to continue to hold true.
