Sound testing with video
The headphones seem to work fine. They were used with the SRA-8S tube amplifier/energizer.
UPDATE (1/12/2023): I have just received a SRD-X Pro and was able to test out the SR-1 and SR-3. Both don't seem to have channel imbalance. At least not that I could hear. There is also no buzzing and seem to both work fine. (SRD-X Pro is not for sale)
Everything works fine. SRA-8S seems to have some channel imbalance and some buzzing. Tested only on AUX 1. Both Normal Bias sockets and all knobs seem to work with no issues as shown in the videos.
When testing the headphones on the SRA-8S, the SR-1 and SR-3 both had buzzing and channel imbalance that were the exact same. So I'm pretty positive that it's the energizer that's causing it. Since everything was made in the 1960s, most likely like the capacitors in the amplifier has dried up causing the imbalance and buzzing.
The channel imbalance can be "fixed" with the balance knob on the SRA-8S. The buzzing is unnoticeable when listening to music.
Keep in mind that when using the SRA-8S, make sure to use a Step Down transformer.
Asking:
STAX SR-1 Electrostatic Headphones: $1200 Shipped
STAX SR-3 Electrostatic Headphones: $150 Shipped
STAX SRA-8S Tube Amplifier/Energizer: $350 Shipped
Everything will be shipped via UPS Ground and insured. Feel free to ask any questions or give any offers.
