For sale a thoroughly upgraded Sophia Electric Baby Amp.

Considering Sophia Electric is well respected for their transformers and schematics, this unit has been converted from PCB to point-to-point wiring. Since finishing this upgrade project I've also re-built my 6C33-basd SET amp to even higher specs and now I need to part with one of the amps to pursue the next DIY project.

This Sophia amp sounds very dynamic and clean, tonally balanced, with amazing 3D stage and images I'd say even better than my 6C33 SET amp.

The power supply filtering was increased 7x in capacitance - from 200uF + 44uF in stock configuration to over 1,770uF using Vishay, Nichicon, and Obbligato oil capacitors.

The rectifier is built on ultra fast CREE Schottky diodes.

Coupling capacitors are Miflex KPCU-01.

Cathode bypass caps are Panasonic Alu polymer film + Amtrans.

Japanese carbon film Kiwame and Takman resistors throughout, oversized in power rating for further improving sound quality.

Volume control is built on metal film resistor stepped attenuator.

Silver-plated OFC signal wire.

2 quads of matched output tubes (stock 6P1T and 6П1П-ЕВ from Svetlana).

2 pairs of matched input tubes (GE5670 and 6Н3ПЕ).

Total investment in the upgraded parts was over $550.

The side panels are made of wood, could be easily detached/attached (velcro strips) and painted/stained to desired color to match new home looks.
