The Sony D-25S portable CD player was the top-of-the-line all-metal unit that earned rave reviews as a vintage player in the early 2000s; this version (with the "S" suffix denoting the color change from the black D-25) was made for first-class airline passengers to listen to music while in flight.

Search the web using the model number to find reviews; one is at http://www.enjoythemusic.com/magazine/equipment/0703/midmonth/bestportable.htm. He notes this was probably the best portable compact disc player ever made.

They have 3.5mm headphone jacks and 3.5mm lineouts. These two units have been set aside for about 12 years and while they worked perfectly at the time of storage they need overhauling as the volume pot is noisy and discs will only play the first track briefly and the laser doesn't advance tracks. This likely means the laser's worm drive needs to be cleaned and lubed and the volume pot cleaned. See this thread for more information. One unit was used in a desktop system and the other was backup; they were never used as portable units. Included are two Radio Shack AC transformers (the best 9V walwarts they made), but no batteries (the batteries sold by Sony are no longer available), and two IBM ThinkPad padded modular computer drive bags that fit the players. Each player is cosmetically close to perfect without any scratches on the cases, and each has four removable 3M Bumpon adhesive feet underneath. No smoke or other issues.
