Extremely rare Joseph Grado hp-2i (2013 improved version) hp-1000 for sale.
For those unaware of the history. This is the very first grado ever made -aka the hp1000 (1989)- but this particular unit was sent in for restoration/upgrades that Joe offered between 2008-2014~. The upgrade was an additional $1,500 fee on top of sourcing a working hp1000. The upgrades improve the bass/detail and timber vs the stock model. Joseph passed away in 2015 at 91 years old. Approximately 50 or less were made. Only a small number (~5) of those were terminated with dual-cable XLR by Joseph Grado himself.
Unlike modern grado, the hp-1000 is made without plastic or glue (all screwed together), and has a balanced neutral sound instead of one with exaggerated treble. Some have described it as sounding “cool”. I have written about the headphone extensively and even ranked it above many well regarded modern TOTLs.
I have kept very good care of them, keeping them covered in a dust jacket when not in use. Sonically they are in perfect working condition.
