Selling my beloved and discontinued Sennheiser HD700 headphones. As I’m sure you’ve read, these come with some flaws. But they have the most exciting sound I’ve heard and, in my opinion, are required listening for anyone serious about this hobby. These are in good condition with one small dent in the mesh (see second photo) – the other sections of mesh are in great shape.

This pair comes with Dekoni Elite Hybrid pads ($75) that helped tame some of the peakiness in the treble. Maybe 20 hours on those – newish. This will come with a 1.25 meter Custom Cans 3.5mm khaki green cable ($128) and two cheap NewFantasia cables of 1.2 meters and 3 meters. I’m also tossing in the original cable, but it has a short. If you think you can fix it, have at it – it’s a decent cable. I trashed the original earpads.

I seems to have lost the original box. But I will pack in the pictured zippered carrying case and then have the UPS Store put it in a cardboard box.

Asking $285, shipped to CONUS. I’ll cover PayPal fees. I sold the Moon Audio cable that was previously part of this listing.

What a pleasant surprise to find an HD 700 on the classifieds while listening to my own modified HD 700. 😁
Oh these are very polarizing on the threads with some loving and some hating.....I am one of the loved them......sold and bought them 4 different times 😂🤣. Always chasing different headphones to try but too broke so sell off stuff I love. Then instant regret getting rid of them lol. Great headphones.

I’ll probably regret it! But time to roll some of my headgear investments into some new stuff.

I am in 100% agreement with you :) if I would not have sold those I wouldmy have been able to experience other headphones without pulling from my (non headphone back account) which would lead to my wife making me sleep in the trash outside lol. I kept side grading with the 500 and under headphones, then realized I had a ton of midfi headphones which were all great............then tap tap on the shoulder of more expensive stuff (ZMF). And I sold everyone of my headphones lol. Once you find your sound it’s good :)

Ha, exactly. This hobby is expensive until you realize you’ve already invested enough that you can just keep selling and buying used gear and not spend much more on top.

Which is how I owned like $70K worth of audio gear just last year while only spending a small fraction. I just wish I hadn't bought so many things brand new... I could have gotten a nice car with all the money I've lost on this hobby.

In case anyone is curious, here's the mod I have on my HD 700. I can't compare directly to the stock HD 700 I owned years ago, but from memory, it sounds much better.

Was gonna ask – that looks like a great mod and easy to do.

I had that mod on one of the pairs I bought :) but holy Hannah 70k of audio equipment is insane! I can see how that would happen once you get the higher end gear and sell and buy used though. I haven’t gotten that far yet as my most expensive amp is the Asgard 3 and dac is a modi 3 (just picked up a new used modi multibit now to try). Was thinking about getting a used jotunheim 1st gen to see what balanced is all about, but my Asgard 3 is a better amp apparently so not sure going used would be worth it unless it was cheaper then the Asgard was new for 199 lol. This hobby is awesome :)
