Rare incredible digital music center -- the Resolution Audio Cantata 2.0 is Jeff Kalt's brainchild product which launched the company to fame, and this is the version 2 (new $6500 USD) -- considered to be among the best digital players (Weiss, Berkeley, dCS) under $10k. Rarely listed for sale. The machined top is unique to each unit and there's no two units w/ the same pattern!
This is a digital processor which can be used a DAC (balanced Burr-Brown 1704 R2R!) via its USB/Toslink/AES/coax inputs, end point UPnP player (via Ethernet), as a CD player w/ its built in drive, and is also a digital pre-amplifier w/ volume control via remote control to allow both balanced & single-ended connection to an amplifier without another pre-amplifier. I went between this and my Vinnie Rossi L2 DAC ($10k+ unit) and could not decide which one I liked more.... it has that R2R musicality magic that keeps toe tapping and air guitars going. This past month I was using this while my Lampizator was away, and was amazed how good this sounded.
Hi-Fi Choice magazine described it as "strong value for money' at £5995."
What Hi-Fi? magazine said "With its futuristic styling and incredible performance, the Cantata Music Centre is one of the most desirable products on the market."
I used this in my living room system but unfortunately am selling the whole system. Unit is in pristine condition, rated 8/10 only for age, and all original wooden crate, packaging, manual, power cable and TWO remotes included. Shipping within the USA included or local pick-up in Seattle. Additional shipping cost if outside the U.S.
