To my ears these Telefunken ECC801S's totally blow the Telefunken E88CC's and the Telefunken E188CC's completely out of the water. They were my #1 driver tubes on my Woo Audio WA2/Schiit Audio Yggdrasil DAC/Sennheiser HD800S headphone rig. Only selling these because I've mortgaged the house to move up to the $1000/pair Telefunken G73R's.
Spectacularly elegant and transparent sound. Complex and nuanced soundstage. Very balanced and visceral presentation. Instruments and voices carry "live" sounding weight and texture.
Dead quiet on my headphone rig. No tube noise or microphonics.
