I purchased this a while back with intention of it being a gift, but the recipient didn't like the sound of my personal pair of Celestees, and its too late to return them. These are brand new, never used. The box was opened to show condition and what's included. Paypal, please, and I'll handle shipping.

Your post says you own a pair of these, so maybe you can tell me your impressions. I want something that has a wide soundstage and is extremely accurate. I like to be able to hear the details and nuances in what I listen to, and I'm always looking for the most true-to-life sound I can find. I know that is every audiophile's goal, but, because I am a teacher, I cannot afford to spend thousands on audio gear. I currently play my music through a brand-new iBasso DX170, and I alternate between Sony MDR-1AM2s and Oppo PM3s. I don't know if you have any knowledge of this setup, but I'm interested in your experience with the Celestees. I've never listened to music through them, but a sales rep at Moon Audio recommended them.

Hi,

I understand where you're coming from, and I'd love to sell you these headphones, but based on your wants, I don't think these are going to be a good fit.

They *are* pretty accurate, perhaps rolling off a bit in treble, but still sound good.

The soundstage, on the other hand, is where these will come up short. It feels like it's inside your head, rather than in front of you, and it's just an artifact of the design and the fact that they're closed back.

If you don't mind open back headphones, and something a little heavier than the Celestees, I would perhaps look for a used set of ZMF "OG" Auteurs (non-limited, non-stabilized) for a reasonable price. Yes, it will be a bit more than the Celestees, but you'll get a lot of bang for under $1,000 if you find the right set. If you want closed back, try a set of Eikons. (I have both of those and think they're outstanding headphones.) Aeolus is another less-expensive open back that might fit the bill, and could probably be found for a reasonable price used. (Again, non-limited, non-stabilized.)

So, what am I using the Celestees for, you might ask? I have a Roland digital piano (HP 237R) that I use the Celestees on for practice so I'm not driving my wife crazy playing a tricky passage over and over again. The sound is great, and in that application, I really don't care about soundstage, because I'm just hearing me.

I hope this helps a bit. Let me know if you have any further questions.

That is amazingly helpful! It's also nice to know that people like you are out there.

Since I wrote to you initially, I did a little more research and discovered that several reviewers commented on the lack of soundstage. So, I started to look into the Meze 109 Pros. Do you have any knowledge of those?

Thanks!

Unfortunately, I don't have any experience with those headphones. Sorry. Best of luck in your search!
