For sale is my DIY KGSSHV Carbon. I built it around the beginning of the pandemic for my own use. Later I built a few other eStat amps, and the Carbon has been collecting dust under my desk for more than a year now. It's time to find a loving home for it.

The Carbon was built using the 'Stax mafia' PCB design and parts as close to the original design as possible. A rotary switch with LED indicators selects from 4 inputs including one set of balanced XLR. The volume pot is an ALPS RK27. Both pro bias (left) and normal bias (right) jacks are provided. I used two oversized power transformers hoping to expand it to an SS/tube combo amp in one box. Later I figured that the planned tube compliment deserves its own enclosure, so that didn't materialize. The result is that while the amp runs hot, the transformers stay only lukewarm.

The output stages are biased at 450V, 18.8mA, with the servo enabled to ensure a stable offset. The bias and balance were checked again before the amp is put up for sale. This amp registered the lowest 1kHz THD among all the eStat amps I built so far. The dimensions are 17"x14"x4" including bumpers, connectors and knobs. It weight 36lbs.

Being a DIY unit, it doesn't have any fancy engraved lettering or the customary warning signs on the back. Although it is straightforward to operate, the buyer agrees to use caution and good judgement when using it. I agree to service the unit up to one year should it break, with parts and shipping cost paid by the new owner. The asking price includes Paypal fees and ground shipping to the lower 48 states.
