I bought a 4S LP HE-6 a few weeks ago on Head-Fi and haven’t stopped smiling since it arrived.

I use a Cayin HA-300 headphone amp with new production Western Electric WE300b tubes to drive it with a Forza Audio Noir Hybrid HPC cable.

For bass-heavy modern pop/rock, rap, and R&B, the HE-6 are the best headphones I’ve ever heard.

The secret sauce is tubing them with enough power. I have my HA-300 set to high impedance at 1:00 on the volume dial.

Susvaras are elegant and smooth so you need disproportionately more power to drive them to their max. The HA-300 doesn’t quite manage it.

HE-6 are feisty and energetic so they light up quicker as the power goes up and 300b tubes tame the treble.

I’m not keen on the pads on the 6S. They look like gorilla ball sacks on a cold day. The condition is collector quality. With slightly suspect Hifiman build quality, it’s makes sense to pay a bit more for nearly new.
