Up for sale is a very rare Mod House Argon MK2. It’s the blacked-out version based on the MassDrop T-X0. These were my first introduction to “high-end” over-ear headphones many years ago. I still think they sound incredible, even compared to my much more expensive ZMFs and Meze Elite.

On top of that, they are super comfortable with the deer skin suspension strap and huge ZMF Lambskin Oval pads. They’re the only pair of headphones I have that I can wear without my rather large ears touching anything at all. It’s hard to overstate how nice that is!

These rarely pop up for sale, so grab this amazing set before I change my mind! The only reason I’m selling is to gather some funds to put towards the purchase of the new ZMF Aegis tube amp.

Included with the headphones:
  • ZMF Oval Lambskin pads (installed)
  • Deer skin suspension strap (installed)
  • Stock 6.35mm locking cable
  • Original MassDrop T-X0 box

You and I both own Atrium Closed it appears - what do you think of the bass and sub-bass characteristics of this Argon vs the AC? I know Argon is the T50rp mod that went the bassy and warm route (vs DCA's path towards neutral); how's the impact, texture, and clarity of that bass, especially in comparison with the notorious sub-bass thump of AC? (I ask about AC only as a frame of reference, I'm explicitly *not* asking "hey would you expect a T50rp mod to replace AC in a collection?")

I’ll try to do a little comparison and see how they compare. I haven’t plugged the Argon into my new Aegis yet, so that will be interesting as well. I’ll report back!
