For Sale: Kinki Studio THR-1 Headphone Amplifier. This amplifier was newly imported in December. I bought it from someone who had it a mere week then. This amp is most powerful, and really can rock in the bass. Also it is warm & full in the midrange. Over the past handful of months I've gone through numerous solid state amplifiers. First off a Topping A-90 which is clear & smooth, but not as dimensional or as powerful as the Kinki. Then a Burson Soloist 3xp which is a more laid back & a bit grainy compared to the Kinki. Finally, a Denafrips Artemis which I'm keeping, thus willing to sell the Kinki.
I've used this amp with with a Beyerdynamic T1.2 at 600 ohms and a Hifiman HE 560, both to good results. This amp did not work well with my Beyerdynamic T1.3 at 32 ohms nor my Audioquest Nighthawk, also low impedance & highly efficient; I say not well, because a hum came through with these. For headphone out there are two single-ended 1/4 inch jack. One for more current & one for more voltage. The 4pin XLR out is the same as the high current output. The amp can sub as a pre-amp. I've included a pair of XLR out to RCA out for convience. The amp has two source inputs also.
