Hello, I am selling my Kaldas Research RR1 Conquest, a very excellent headphone, in fact one of my favorite electrostats. But I am pruning some of my 'stat collection to fund a 009. It is complete with all documentation, accessories, and original packaging.

The RR1 Conquest has an incredibly thick, somewhat dark sound that is very similar to the 007, I often recommend it as a lower-cost alternative to the 007 because it has that same cogent, creamy sound that 007 fans love. I would also describe it as basically a Senn 650/6XX with better extension in both directions and estat technicalities. It is very detail-forward while simultaneously being very laid-back and euphonic, which is a really amazing combination of qualities. It also responds quite well to EQ.

There are a few things to note with this particular pair:

-This pair has a channel imbalance, specifically on the right side driver, that comes and goes, often depending on how much use it receives. Sometimes it is enough to require separate attenuation of several db to the right channel, sometimes it sounds perfectly matched to the left driver. Often it balances out better once it has "warmed up" for 30 minutes or so. For this reason, DO NOT PURCHASE THIS HEADPHONE UNLESS YOU HAVE AN AMP THAT HAS SEPARATE VOLUME CONTROL FOR EACH CHANNEL. Amps such as the SRM-1/Mk2, 353X, 006t, etc. The right driver has no audio issues beyond the sporadic channel imbalance. This channel imbalance is reflected in the lowered price of the unit.

-The headband for the RR1 is notoriously prone to breaking, and you can see that both headbands that shipped with it, after reasonable use, have both snapped (refer to pics). More headbands can be acquired for $8 directly from Kaldas Research, or alternatively many users have made their own headband systems to suit a variety of tastes. On this unit I hacked together a temporary foam cut-out which I applied to the metal frame with adhesive and then covered with duct tape, it is an eyesore but to my head quite comfortable and intended as a stopgap until I had developed a better solution. This "mod" can easily be removed and you can substitute in your own solution, whether DIY, buying another headband, or potentially even just fixing up the existing headbands and making them work.

-There are various minor nicks or shallow scrapes on the cups and adjustment units, I have taken pictures of any of them visible to my eye.

I have priced these in accordance with these caveats, and not in accordance with its sound quality - they are some of the best sounding electrostatic headphones I have heard, and they scale upwards incredibly well.

Fees and shipping included. Thanks for looking!
