Selling the Grimm MU1, the Antipodes K50 works better for my speakers, only 2 days old, bought brand new from authorized dealer with receipt and tracking as proof for when it arrived to me.

Latest hardware version with the extra spdif coaxial output.

The MU1 works better for me when I use Abyss headphones, but K50 better for me when I use my Deville speakers. Since I am selling my Abyss headphones (see classifieds) I hope this MU1 goes to a good home.

Wanted to consider keeping both servers, but just seems excessive.

Side Note: Potential buyers can go view head fi MU1 thread as theres a dated thread reply where I opened the unit and took photo of it.

If it's 2 days old why not just return for a refund?

Because I dislike doing that to my dealer, I been with him a long time and do not mind the small damage to self. Appreciate the gesture of reaching out though. My dealer treated me well throughout the years, so it's just a gesture in return.

It was my own fault for not demoing myself and buying blind.

I also forgot and was not aware how common it is for people to return items to dealers despite buying them brand new. I run a small biz myself so I sympathize with these kind of moments. This is probably why I continue to run a small biz and not a big one. I am not cut throat and psychotic enough haha.

And to be absolutely clear the K50 and MU1 for my speakers are both wonderful, it is just if I HAD to choose one, it would be K50 by a hair for my speakers.

The K50 is more versatile in terms of outputs but the MU1 more versatile in terms of DAC pairing. (Imo that is)

Why not let it run for 150 hours and listen again? I usually find digital components will sound better by that point.

You are right Ken, but broad strokes impressions are broad strokes, and I just feel in my gut the K50 works better for me even if the Grimm "burns in and gets better."

I have already traded in my Grimm MU1 for the Weiss 501 DAC, and now I will be DAC rolling against the MPD6 and the Weiss 501 in my chain instead of server rolling.

My K50 stays in my chain, but I do appreciate the suggestion and understand where you are coming from. As you see, some things do not change. ^_*

Congrats on the sale.

A little more than a year ago I decided to take a break from the hobby and sold everything as I was swapping out components, and it ended up that I was spending more time listening to the components than I was the music

I just got back in to the hobby and the funny thing is that I bought everything that I originally had that I originally was happy with. I went full circle except threw a lot of money away in the process.

This is me. We spoke about this before. I relate fully. Though nowadays I am most happy listening to speakers, my beloved fleetwood devilles.

I think I stayed away from 2 channel due to being stubborn and lazy about needing to deal with room acoustics. I always appreciated headphones the nost simply because its easy, no room acoustics to deal with, and just mix and match gear. It also had that "I am not bothering anyone else at 3am" type factor.

I also had this weird thought about how 2 channel community full of grumpy ass old men. My initial experience with 2 channel was a guy from a long island audio shop who really rubbed me the wrong way, selling me items just to move product, and being a jerk about it in the process. I always from the get go had bad impression of 2 channel crowd, not to mention their gear is much more expensive in general. Since the TC scaled relatively wellnwith digital components, by the time I maxed out my TC via the chain, I thought wow I just swap in speakers and I'm pretty much golden.

I did just that and there is no looking back my friend. I graduated from the headphone world and my roots came from there, forever grateful to the head fi community as I learned most my knowledge here.

Lastly, I appreciate you sharing your experience because I literally am you and by you sharing you cemented for me the fact that once we experience good sound there is no going back as music lovers and audiophiles.
