Presentation text of the Grado Labs website:
We are proud to present the second limited edition of our Heritage series, the cocobolo GH2. Cocobolo, known for its fine instruments, furniture, and those chess sets that look too nice to touch, is one of the most beautiful and tonally pleasing woods we've used. We are excited that the first Grado to be built from the cocobolo tree is our Heritage Series GH2.
GRADO LABS launches the second Limited Edition of its Heritage Series, the cocobolo GH2 model. Cocobolo wood is used for the creation of high-quality instruments, furniture and chess sets that are too pretty to touch. Cocobolo is one of the woods with the most attractive feel and tones that have ended up in the hands of Brooklyn HiFi artisans. And, therefore, the first headphones in which GRADO uses this wood is with the Heritage Series GH2.
With the first model of the Heritage Series, GRADO sought to pay homage to its roots in the New York neighborhood of Brooklyn. They built the GH1s with maple wood from a fallen tree just a few blocks from where the degree headquarters is located. They were the first headphones created with wood from a 100% Brooklyn tree.
But if the GRADO GH1 praised their native place, with the GRADO GH2 they wanted to go further. Cocobolo is a wood native to the Central American rainforest, and its density is one of the main reasons why it produces such a unique sound.
The limited editions of GRADO allow the firm to experiment with different woods and designs, giving them the opportunity to create unique GRADO models. As always, with each wood they use, I would not have chosen it if I had not realized that its tonal capabilities did not represent the GRADO acoustic signature. The brand is proud to offer the cocobolo GH2 as some of the most sophisticated headphones they have manufactured at GRADO.
