I've decided that it is time to let my ESX900 go. I swore I would keep them forever but things have come up and I need to reduce my collection. These are the best tuning that I have heard of a TH900 and I have had quite a few versions including other ESX900s. I love the sound of this particular set. It keeps the bass of the TH900 but smooths out the top end and brings the mids out a bit so they are just generally more fun and enjoyable. They have been modded to have a detachable cable in a somewhat unique way but this mod didn't require cutting the driver frames so it doesn't impact the tuning at all. I don't have the original TH900 packaging for them but I do have a travel case for them that I didn't put in the pics. The headband, pads and cups are all in good condition. I noticed that there are a couple of specs of dust that show up in the pics. They are not chips, just dust specs.

My asking price includes shipping in CONUS and paypal fees.

The stand pictured sold. It's a custom maple burl and resin stand. I do have others similar to it for sale if you are interested though.

Head-Fier
Have you by chance ever gotten to compare these to Sony's MDR-Z1R? I've done some reading about these ESX900's and I'm intrigued, but haven't gotten to do tons of comparison reading (another forum had a bunch of comparisons, but often to various ZMF cans, which makes sense). I'd also be marginally interested in comparisons to Hifiman's R9's, though I suspect that's likely a rare comparison to these :)

I had the Z1R awhile ago so I never did a direct A/B. Also, given that my audio memory is far from perfect, take my comments for what they are worth. My personal thoughts on this, based on what I can remember, are that the Z1R is more laid back and "soft" in it's presentation. The ESX900 feels a bit more detailed and punchy given that it has a bit more sparkle and presence in the high end than the Z1R. That's not to say that it necessarily is more detailed, it just presents that way if that makes sense. I think that the bass of the ESX900 goes a little deeper and is a bit more textured as well. The Z1R is a bassy headphone but my recollection is that some of the bass could get a little muddy at times. I liked the Z1R so these are nitpicky things. I like the ESX900 more though so that's why it's still in my collection at this point rather than the Z1R. My final thought is that the ESX900 is just generally a prettier headphone.
