Glenn's amps are the stuff of legend, and deservedly so. One of the best OTL headphone amps you can buy, period. This is one of one in this configuration. The only reason I'm selling this is because I have not used it in the past month since acquiring my 300B tube amp and don't see myself going back to it on a regular basis.
Custom specifications:
Wooden Chassis- built to complement ZMF headphones
Compact 4-tube complement for desktop-friendly footprint
Tube Rectification (3V-5V)
Lundahl Power Transformer
Goldpoint Stepped Attenuator
Jupiter Capacitors
Belton Sockets
I bought this amp from Glenn back in 2019. It's in great shape and will come with the original pool noodle packaging. If you're local and you want to pick it up, I will also offer a great deal on a Nanuk (like Pelican but better IMO) rolling travel case that I customized for this amp. Glenn's amps were made for tube rollers, and I've amassed quite a few tubes for this amp. At my asking price I will be including a good selection of tested and auditioned tubes to get the buyer started. It is common knowledge among many 6SN7 users here that using two 6J5/6C5 tubes in place of one 6SN7 provides a significant sound quality upgrade. Therefore, rather than include a 6SN7 tube I'm including a nice adapter made by @Deyan and a few good or NOS pairs of 6J5/6C5 tubes: Tung-Sol VT-94 (~80%), Visseaux (branded ATES) 6J5G (>100%), Sylvania 6J5G (>100%, nice high-frequency detail), Ken-Rad (Cossor co-branded) 6J5 (>100%, killer bass!). Also including two pairs of power tubes. One pair of RCA 6AS7G clear tops (~99%, great low end, euphonic sound), and one pair of Chatham 6AS7G (branded CBS) (>100%, one of the best power tubes in the family- my overall favorite). I'm also including two rectifiers. The first is a rare 5V tube, the Raytheon 5CU4. Glenn himself said this is one of the best 5V rectifiers to use because it provides a lot of current and the voltage drop is minimal. The second is my favorite rectifier, and ever since purchasing it NOS and installing it in my amp I've never removed it. It's that good. It is a GEC U18/20 (CV 31) which is the 4V equivalent of the famous U52. I'm including the necessary adapter to use it in the octal socket of the GOTL. This tube alone cost me $275 and is worth every penny. Finally, assuming I can fit it in the box, I'm including a custom acrylic dust cover that I had made by shoppopdisplays.com. All in it's well over $1000 worth of tubes, adapters, and the cover. I also have more high-end tubes available separately. Serious inquries only, as this is a serious amp for the discerning listener. This amp gives you a summit-Fi listening experience at an attainable price.
