I offer an absolute reference preamplifier / headphone amplifier of the brand Benchmark in black finish. Both metrologically, as well as sonically, the HPA4 is one of the world's best devices and that with very compact dimensions. It is a 100% analog device. The implementation of the volume control alone shows how much effort has been made to offer the highest possible quality:

I know of hardly any similar device (even for much more expensive devices) where the volume range can be controlled as finely and precisely as with the HPA4, and that with absolute channel equality, even at the lowest volumes.
