I bought this Auris from the original owner and it was damaged in shipping to me. The bottom sheet metal plate was bent and the point of one foot was a bit smashed. I filed the burs off of the foot so it is fully functional and seats fine in the foot cup. I was also able to straighten the sheet metal pretty well. It is still visibly not perfect but its on the bottom so you never see it once it's placed. I was also having trouble with some fluctuating background noise so I sent it in to an authorized service shop in California (one of 2 in the US) to have it gone through. The repairman found that a couple of traces had cracked on a board that is attached to that sheet metal bottom that was bent so he fixed them and went through the amp and gave it a clean bill of health. I have noticed that the impedance selector switch on the back is a little touchy though. It works fine but when you change settings, one channel occasionally cuts out so you have to wiggle the switch a little and then it is fine. If you don't change settings, you never notice any issue, it's only when you move the switch.
The amp sounds great but does have a background hum. The hum volume really depends on the sensitivity of your headphones. I find that I don't notice it while music is playing but it's definitely there and I notice it between songs. Also, with more sensitive headphones, it's definitely louder. I'm not sure if this is a ground loop issue in my setup, noisy power coming in, a noisy environment or what else it could be. All tube amps that I have had have some level of background hum so maybe it's just the way it is. I just want to make sure that I'm very clear that this hum is there.
Cosmetically, I would give it a 7-8. It looks great but there are a few pretty minor scuffs on the white leather and white transformer cover. They are all almost unnoticeable from any distance but they are there.
Because of these issues, I'm listing it at a low price (this amp listed for $2400). It comes with 4 input tubes (I'm missing one box) and 9 power tubes. The 5 power tubes that are shown in boxes aren't perfectly matched but they have been tested and match well enough to use as a backup set. It uses 1 input tube and 4 power tubes. It has a power cord and 4 cups for the feet. It comes with the original box but the packing material is not all original. It will be packed well for shipping.
