AudioWise SRC-DX for sale in excellent technical condition- unfortunately with a scratch on the case.
For those who don’t know what it is and why you would want it, a short explanation.
Some believe the USB implementation (Amanero based) in Dave and Hugo aren’t on par with the other inputs, such as BNC, AES/EBU and SPDIF optical. If you have a streamer, like I used to have, that only has USB output, you have no choice but to use the USB input.
Unless you use SRC-DX. It receives a USB signal and converts it to double BNC. Resolutions all the way up to 24/768, so some even see it as alternative to the Hugo M Scaler, using software upsampling instead.
I added it between my Sonore OpticalRendu (already sold) and my Chord Dave and admittedly, it brought a significant improvement. The sound is even less fatiguing and the most remarkable improvement to me was the increase in depth in the presentation. There is more separation, some instruments sound as if they are more than 15 meters away where others are close. Once added in the chain, removing it was no longer an option (and I did try it).
It is in perfect technical condition but unfortunately there is a scratch on the housing. Normally the SRC DX is out of sight as it is behind your streamer, so it is less of an issue. Still I want to mention it.
The SRC DX can be collected at my home (in Wassenaar, the Netherlands) but due to its small size I can easily ship it to any country in the EU. It’s not commonly sold in Europe, I bought it in the US and had to pay shipping and customs duties. Hence my price, asking €375.
It is important you use good quality BNC cables. I’ve tried lots and my best experience (even though I never tried the well known Wave Storm) was a pair of custom made pure silver core BNC cables with silver mesh shielding. Bought them €125 each, I can include them optionally for €135 for the pair in case you buy the SRC DX.
