Selling my beloved Alambic Ears Mentawai as I have moved to mostly earbud listening now. This has an abalone faceplate with a piano black shell. Current lead time on a Mentawai is several months. This model is the 'New' Mentawai after a revision of the filter system which has greatly improved dynamic range.

This monitor competes with all of the TOTLs currently on the market, owned many of them and compared side by side with the ones I haven't at Canjam.
Large 10mm DD for bass weight and rumble with EST for finesse. Scales really well with power. Antisibilance dip means you can crank the volume on these and party (with very little loss of definition or note blunting).

Tonality: balanced W shape, excellent dynamics, similar to Traillii but with less transparency and authentic DD bass.

Fred is a true gentleman and has always been very helpful. It's painful to part ways but it's really not getting the love it deserves because of my earbud use.

Yep, it's a shame Fred has had little foothold in the International markets. Truly a boutique product but also truly worthy of 'boutique' status. I've still not heard an IEM with such massive sounding bass, standing-speaker feeling in the body.
