Acoustic Research AR-M2 boxed in excellent condition for sale or trade only for Chord Hugo 1st gen. See table for specs.
This player is kind of a rare beast now, so it is hard to get.
Battery is fresh. It lasts 6 hours of listening to Spotify (Wi-Fi always on) or 7 hours of listening to the music from micro SD card (Wi-FI Off) with Beyerdynamic T5P. M2 operates well with 512 Gb micro SD formatted to exFAT. It only takes to load about 20 seconds with 400 Gb of music files.
M2 has the most organic, fluid and full bodied sound of all the "usual suspects" I've experienced in past (HM801, MA9, C4 Pro stock and C4 Pro hard modded with BlackGate capacitors, AK100, AK100 mk2, AK120, AK120II, AK240, AK320, AK380, DX100, HDP-R10, DX200, X5, X7, Valoq with bunch of OPAmps, Opus#2, WM1A, N6, LPG. And M2 blows everything mentioned out of the water, except may be LPG. But I prefer M2 to LPG.
Main AR conception of M2 is "digital filters killing sound" and it works best. M2 has pure A class amplifier (almost 800 mW) and no digital filters. It can hiss with high sensitive IEM or headphones. But who cares, when music starts to play, you dive into the real magic. If you've ever heard Jackie Evancho's Requiem from "Game of Thrones", you know how flawless the transitions from one note to another. It reminds me how M2 portrais music. You find yourself listening full albums from start to end instead of changing tracks all the time. May be ultra tops such as AK Ultimas, N8 are better, but I do not participate in this marketing race of brands - who set the price higher, because of overstupidly high prices, so didn't listen one.
So, how does it sound? Imagine pure emotion expanding in space and time, and your consciousness at the center. I can't recommend it more.
Only one thing I consider to trade is the first Chord Hugo, just to experience opposite sound conception - only digital filters (thousands of it) in FPGA.
