Poor Man's Desktop Set-Up! A Schiit Magni 3+ and a Pro-Ject S2 Digital dac/preamp for one money! Bought the Magni 3+ in 2020; the S2 Digital is the original version, not the current revised version, bought it a few years before. Both work fine, but I found the volume pot on the Magni 3+ a little scratchy above 12 o'clock--no problems otherwise once volume is set--and the screw on top front right side of case is weirdly stripped (see photo)--again, no problem with sound. As for the S2 Digital, it can only be powered via USB because the mini-USB jack for the outboard power supply sheared off the second or third time I connected it. The unit's display ain't what is used to be either, but it works. It's a nice little dac/preamp otherwise, with USB, Co-Axial, and TosLink inputs, a decent headphone amp on its own, and includes a remote control for volume, switching inputs, etc. Works great connected via USB to a computer or to a Raspberry Pi 4 or higher set up as a streaming source. (It won't work this way with a RaspPi 3 B+ or lower, however; not enough power via USB with these models.) Both items come with original boxes, manuals, and power supplies.
