Inspiration from Turcoyan post above. Quick toss in & photo... back to the listening! 6CG7 top row - 5670 middle - 12BH7 below. Currently rolling Raytheon CK 5670 in Vali. Cheers!

Ps. I don't keep my wine that close, hidden detail in photo- lack of quality but maybe someone will pick it up...

• Vali 3 is now in the category of: "we hold these truths to be self-evident". What is that particular truth? That Vali 3 is a fantastic headphone amplifier - at its price and outright! [ ... I know: repetitive but... ]

• Give Vali 3 a tube and a headphone that are "up to snuff", put the Head-Fi "quest" aside .... let the good tunes roll. 😊

I just saw someone selling one with some extra tubes after only 6 weeks. Apparently they just wanted to try other stuff now. I don’t understand, especially for such an economical unit. Just pack it away for a few months until you get bored with the new thing. I’m a little upset I let go of my 5670/6922 adapter when I sold my Orchid. Lesson learned. Keep all adapters. Especially the ones you don’t “think” you’ll ever use again. Reading through this thread, you guys make a pretty compelling case. Can’t have tubes at work or in my bedroom system without some extra protection though. Don’t want to deal with singed cat tail.

I'm actually having more fun rolling tubes on this little guy than I did on the Bottlehead Crack. Some good Schiit.

I picked the Vali 3 to make due til I can buy/build something better. Seems like a decent bit of kit so far. Has anyone noticed changes with more run in time? It sounded a bit rough to start and has improved over the last couple days. Could be the tube or caps inside. I tried GE 5670 and the WE396A also, very handy that my DAC uses the same, they do improve over the stock. I'm also considering modding it if there happens to be caps on the output. Some Silmic II could be a nice improvement.

I'm not much of a tube roller but I'm thinking about trying a GE Five Star 5670 and a GE Jan 5670W in my Vali 3. But my WE396A sounds so good!
.... you can, out of curiosity. For 5670 tube type, you are at the peak.
