Today zen stream got a new update....but still tidal connect forces mqa versions and no hi res flac.

Did I do something wrong? Do I need to change any settings?

No, you are good, it's actually just a re-upload of the current 2.32.9

There was a problem with our update systems and folks weren't able to go past 2.31.7

This has now been corrected, the Tidal Max update should be coming along in a few weeks from what I am told.

I don't think it affects the sound quality but it is wise to always update your hardware for security reasons especially zen stream that has the ability to connect to the internet and communicating with your devices across your wifi network.

Sadly....yes. So they have released the old firmware with newer date.

I don't see how a firmware update could made a difference in sound quality when we are talking about a streamer...

assuming volume normalization is off and you use the same settings and output as before...

though zen stream made a big difference in sound quality when compared to the usb output of my laptop.

In reality, the firmware update would have been for settings issues, updates, and additional features.

It in theory should not create a different sound, but sometimes software optimization can lead to a better sounding experience.

Either way, it's all about the enjoyment, so there's that!

That is the current public version, betas have been restricted for awhile now.

There was an issue with the server, this 2.32.9 is not new just a new version uploaded of the software that has been in place for some time now.

I can't see where the problem lies. I've been on 2.32.9 since August 2023 and I get the message that there's no update, which is fine. Just have to wait until the next one.

We are actively working on versions past 2.32.9 and have been for a while.

We like to make sure versions are good to go and address issues that have been reported, this process used to be open but is now closed to public use.

As soon as a version above 2.32.9 is made public it will be visible from within the update screen.
