Don't you just hate when soundtracks are unreleased?

This happens all too often. You hear amazing music in a movie, television series, game, or whatever, and for some inexplicable reason, it's never made available. What's worse is when they do release a soundtrack and get your hopes up, but only some of the music is on it.

Yes.

Were you looking for examples or was it just a random rhetorical question?

One that springs to mind is the soundtrack to Melancholie Der Engel, composed by David Hess. Awful film really, but inexplicably nice soundtrack. Never saw the light of day. What's most annoying is when you really like the score for a film but it's actually the songs used alongside the score that get released as the OST; like with Beverly Hills Cop - most of Faltermeyer's great synth work in that film never got a proper release.

As I alluded to in the first post, I am all too familiar with the phenomenon. You can share any examples you like.

Still waiting for Ghost in the Shell (2017)

VGMdb is a great resource for keeping track of soundtracks (and other music) for video games, animated television series and movies, etc.

Looks like this is the one you were waiting for...but it was canceled.

At least they have the "music inspired by" release. (Side note: I hate when they only release music in lossy format! That's the only time I would ever pay for lossy.)

You can check here from time to time to see if any new Ghost In The Shell soundtracks are released.

Yea, Iv'e seen the "cancelled" status and the petition but I really liked the original anime's soundtrack and felt the live-action was a good homage and added some new sounds that I really appreciated

My big one for this is the movie Raging Phoenix, which has good hip-hop action music and some fantastic epic instrumental. I've been looking for tracks for that movie since I first saw it, and I've only found one. *sad face*
