I just found out that even though Wolfson DACs can handle 96/24 and beyond, the Android OS is hard wired to 44.1/16.  Any higher rate stuff is resampled down.  Does anyone know if the Sandisk Clip Zip suffers the same fate?  Are there any portables that actually output high bite rate stuff without resampling?

Yeah, you won't find many entry level DAPs that will do that including the clip zip. Right now the cheapest thing that can do that is a Fiio X3 - it actually can do 192/24. As far as Android goes, it has limitation, so it needs a custom kernel to bypass that limitation and right now the ibasso dx100 is the DAP that does that.
