Rotating cans and its back to my ZMF Walnut Burl Verite Closed backs..
Coming off of HE1000Se's...really light saber bright...
Verites closed are warm and musical...what a delight.

Pairing here is a new Tungsol 2C51 in a Schiit Vali 2+.
Tried in Vali 3, with higher (100 volt) plate voltage.
Sounds better with the Vali 2+ with lower voltage...

Driving with Schiit Modius E (ESS dac chip).
Wonderful pairing...

Alex

Great listen...try "Big Fat Hen"...

I love the Vali 2, such a fun little amp. It's the amp I tend to use when in between amps, or when I need to remember diminishing returns. Yeah the big buck amps are nice, but so is the little V.

Yes a $150 hybrid tube amp can really surprise you.
I have those mega-buck tube amps AND mega buck SS amps and a few in between.
With the right tube you would be hard pressed to discern real world differences if you do non-biased testing.

That said and being an electrical engineering type I like amps and circuits, straight wire with gain etc..
The only well too tell if one amp or another is "worthy" of my use is "buy, borrow and try" and see what "my" ears tell me.

So many great choices out there to try..

Enjoy the music, while you can!
Alex

I just finished totally restoring this Pioneer 1250 AVR gem:
The AVR is legendary. replaced 250 parts, realigned etc.

Headphone amp is a 120 ohm match, works well with hi-Z cans like the ZMF's..

I recently purchased a stabilized Verite closed at CanJam 2024 from Bevin and Zach. My purchase was based on two factors: 1) Everyone from ZMF was really cool, friendly, and helpful; 2) the sound of these things is enchanting. While it is hard to get a true assessment of a headphone's sound signature at a live event, CanJam, the Verite checked all the boxes for me. The bass was rumbly and clean, the mids were full and resounding, the treble was bright, even and smooth. This headphone is well-rounded and beautiful to boot.

Thank you for the likes, everyone. I am new to forums, so I am learning how to navigate head-fi. I hope this response gets through to all of you. Let me know, please.
