ZMF Ori (Omni) - Upcoming Semi Open Flagship

I also want to applaud the pricing of this headphone. It must be very tempting to increase one's prices given the current trends, especially if one's making a quality product, as Zach, I'm sure, is.

Edit: I mean, the temptation when introducing a flagship to increase the price drastically relative to one's other headphone offerings. It's refreshing to see someone roll out a flagship that doesn't cost $1000+.

I wonder if this is going to be a side grade to my Alpha Primes.

To Zach or anyone who has had time with the ZMF Omni: How does it's sound isolation/leakage compare to the vibro/blackwood or another closed headphone?

Isolation is better than I thought, but still not as good as a truly closed headphone. It's better than the Fostex TH900/600. I didn't really pay attention to leakage, though, sorry.

It leaks a *little," so in a room that has much noise at all you probably won't hear anything if you're near the listener, but in a quiet room you can hear the sound coming through at a low level.

Isolation wise they are actually almost as good as a closed headphone.

The Fostex isn't a true closed back though. Sure, there's no opening on the back of it, but the headphone, quite literally, has an open ring around the cup that is the reason why it leaks so bad.

Yes, that's right.

So in other words, isolation was better than other "semi open/closed" cans. Like I said, I was definitely expecting less isolation than they actually provided; that was a nice surprise.

Pretty much. We need to add a semi-closed category. The TH900 would definitely be part of that category with the Beyer T1.

Not much on my end - final prototypes are in production and once done if everything goes smoothly I will open preorder.

The woods available most likely will be Cherry, Walnut and African Blackwood to start. Blackwood will be slightly more expensive, but not too much as the drivers are all modified the same way. Of course if African Blackwood sounds better is subjective.

I'm getting rid of my Darths to pay rent because USPS lost the packages I sold; I'm hoping these keep me from missing them!

Do you have the receipt for the insurance? Get on that and put in a lost mail thing too. They've lost my LCD 2's before, and that pissed me off beyond belief.

Man, I'm going to have a hard time picking between Walnut and Blackwood. Both are so good looking. How long do you think the preorders will be up (since I have to wait until July 2nd to order them?) I'm headphone-less at the moment using my Mackie monitors, so I'll be starving for some by the time these are ready, haha. I did this the first time I bought the Vibro and Blackwood.

I scheduled a pickup and got confirmation but tracking says it's still in pre-shipment. I've already escalated it twice so here's hoping.
